Trina Hatchett-Brown Trina Hatchett-Brown is a Senior Associate Counsel for the Department of Energy, Office of Inspector General (DOE OIG) where she handles administrative remedies to include suspension and debarment, program fraud civil remedies, and provide day-to-day legal counsel and representation to OIG on a broad array of issues, including investigations, audits, and inspections. She is also OIG’s Whistleblower Protection Coordinator. Before joining DOE OIG, Trina served as a Division Director for the Department of the Navy (DON), Office of the General Counsel (OGC), Acquisition Integrity Office (AIO). AIO specializes in suspension and debarment matters, corporate ethics and compliance, coordinating qui tam/False Claims Act matters within the DON, and facilitating the recovery of illegal proceeds from contract fraud cases. In her role as Division Director, she oversaw a team of attorneys responsible for handling acquisition integrity cases, including implementing suspension and debarment actions against non-responsive government contractors for poor contract performance, bribery/kickbacks, and false claims related to DON contracts. Preceding AIO, Trina served as an Assistant Counsel for Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Marianas in Guam within the DON OGC. She provided legal advice and representation to NAVFAC in various areas, including acquisition law, civilian personnel law, fiscal law, FOIA, and ethics. Prior to joining DON OGC, Trina worked as a criminal prosecutor for the Attorney General Office in Guam, where she successfully managed the misdemeanor Family Violence Unit, handling cases involving domestic abuse, driving under the influence, and illegal drugs. Trina earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio and her Juris Doctor from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. Trina also has a Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Compliance from the George Washington University, and a Master of Science in Healthcare Management from the Marymount University. Trina has received numerous awards and accolades for her work in fraud and compliance, including receiving a DON Civilian Meritorious Service Award. She also has been a DON Certified Mediator since 2012. She holds a Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) and Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) designation.
