Karen Nightingale

Karen Nightingale is Director of Compliance and Ethics at Royal Mail (the UK's pre-eminent parcels and letters delivery company). She oversees risks around competition law, regulatory law, bribery and corruption, sanctions, facilitation of tax evasion and modern slavery, as well as managing the Royal Mail Speak Up helpline. Since starting the role in April 2019, she has developed a three year strategy for the Royal Mail compliance program and has reviewed and updated all elements of the program to ensure it is risk-based, efficient and effective. Prior to this, she was a competition and regulatory lawyer at Royal Mail and BT (the UK's telecommunications incumbent), providing legal and strategic input across a wide range of issues, including litigation before the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal, regulatory investigations and disputes and general competition and regulatory issues.
