Gary L. Johnson

Gary L. Johnson has been the Director of the Internal Audits Office since 2010. Mr. Johnson is a member of the Department of Human Services (DHS) Senior Strategy Team, sits on the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Internal Audit Committee, and serves as the DHS Deputy Chief Compliance Officer. The DHS Internal Audit Office has three Divisions: Audits, Program Compliance and Audits, and the Digital Evidence Lab. The Audits Division conducts audits of program payments, including grants and contracts, and handles other internal control related work. The Program Compliance and Audits Division conducts major federal program eligibility compliance reviews for Medicaid, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, Child Care, and other assistance programs. The Digital Evidence Lab handles digital evidence acquisition, recovery and analysis for DHS, including e-discovery and criminal fraud work. The Digital Evidence Lab also assists other State Agencies and local law enforcement agencies with specific computer forensic work. Mr. Johnson founded the Digital Evidence lab in 1999 and managed it until 2010. He graduated from Moorhead State University with a B.S in Accounting with a minor in Computer Science, and is a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP).
