Carolyn Sweeney Olson

Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General, Department of Justice

Carolyn Sweeney Olson is a Trial Attorney within the Antitrust Division’s Washington Criminal I section, and is currently serving on detail advising the Assistant Attorney General for the Antitrust Division on criminal matters. Carolyn prosecutes international and domestic white collar criminal cases, focusing on criminal antitrust conspiracies to fix prices, rig bids, and allocate markets, and has worked in diverse markets ranging from poultry sales to fast-food restaurants to oil and gas sales to overseas U.S. military installations. Carolyn is a member of the Department’s Procurement Collusion Strike Force, serving as point of contact for the Strike Force in the District of Columbia. Prior to joining DOJ, Carolyn was an associate at an international law firm in Washington, D.C., where she practiced in the areas of white collar defense, antitrust merger counselling, and civil litigation in both trial and appellate courts. After graduating from law school, Carolyn served as a law clerk to the Honorable Charles R. Wilson, United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. She holds degrees from the University of Notre Dame (B.A., M.Ed.) and the Notre Dame Law School (J.D.).
